25 But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs.
26 For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill.
27 Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow.
28 Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety.
29 Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him,
30 because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me.
Philippians 2:25-30 (NIV)
"Lean on me, when you’re not strong..."
I think we all could sing along with that song not matter what version is playing. Even though it is a familiar song the message is a true one. We can all think back to a person who has been a pillar of strength for us. I can think of people who didn't even know they were a help or encouragement to me.
God has placed people in our lives to be that for us. He has even placed us in peoples’ lives to be that for them. God blesses us with people to share in our weakness and times of troubles. Just as Epaphroditus was sent to Paul and the people of Philippi.
Sometimes it humbles me to see the people God brings into my life to help or encourage me. It just reminds me of how much he loves us that he gives us people to help us along the way in our walk with him.
